A huge blow for the Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
It has been a tough season for Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele.
He rose to prominence in the Football Transfer Tavern last season after a run of excellent performances, but this season has yet to get started for the Belgian.
He missed the first few games of the season through suspension, and then suffered an injury against Manchester City last month.
A foot injury was expected to keep him out, though it was only expected to be a minor layoff, but now, as per Mauricio Pochettino (via the Evening Standard) – the injury appears to have worsened.
The Evening Standard report that Dembele has suffered a recurrence of the foot injury, and as a result, he is yet to return to training
Pochettino said: ““It is painful for him when he is in contact with the ball”.
He added: “We don’t know when he can play again…He is still not with the group but we are happy with the way he is recovering”.
This has come as a huge blow to the Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern, some of whom were hoping that he could be fit for this weekends clash against West Brom.
With Pochettino not confirming when he could be back, they are now fearing for the worst.
Despite this, our landlord still feels that the Tottenham fans have reason to be confident. The introduction of Victor Wanyama has revolutionised the Tottenham midfield – and has left less need for Dembele on an immediate level.
