Tottenham miss out as long-term target signs elsewhere

Nou CampWe have some confirmed transfer movement in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening which might concern a few Premier League punters

Mail Online report that Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Croatian wonderkid Alen Halilovic after agreeing an initial £1.8 million fee with Dynamo Zagreb which could rise to as much as £10 million.

The 17-year-old has been touted as ‘the next Luka Modric’ given his nationality and after making his breakthrough at such a young age, becoming the second youngest player in the Champions League.

The news comes as something of a blow to Tottenham supporters in the tavern who had been previously linked with the youngster especially last summer when ex-boss Andre Villas-Boas stepped up his efforts.

Halilovic, who will start his Barca career with the B side, decided to reject the advances from White Hart Lane on the advice of his father. It also believed that Arsene Wenger was tracking the starlet’s progress closely ahead of a potential move.

However he has ignored interest from England to link up the Catalan side and admitted that it was a dream move.

He said: “I’m delighted and it is difficult to find words to describe what I feel.

“Many thanks to Dinamo, who will always remain my first love and as the club where my dreams began to be realised. I would like to thank all the coaches and the fans of Dinamo.”

Is Halilovic destined to go on to become one of the world’s great talents at Barcelona? Let us know your thoughts below.
