Tottenham Hotspur came close to making what would have been a great signing in 2012.
The midfielder stated he had actually signed to join up with his former Porto coach in north London, however, a deal was completed a couple of minutes after the deadline had closed, therefore keeping him in Portugal.
“Andre Villa-Boas was my coach at Porto and when he was at Tottenham, it was very close,” he told the Express and Star.
“I signed, but after the deadline. It was one or two minutes, it was over.”
Moutinho, who was expected to be a Premier League player some time ago, is now at Wolverhampton Wanderers as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to guide the club to a successful finish in the top-flight.
The 32-year-old, who is just one of a number of Portuguese players at Wolves, has already taken to life in the Premier League well.
He has plenty of experience and has won trophies wherever he has been and Tottenham will surely regret not having been able to bring him to the club.
Spurs will now have to sit back and think what could have been with the likes of Moutinho in their team.
