According to The Irish Independent, Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley has said that Tottenham are still in contention of signing teenage sensation Gavin Bazunu ahead of Premier League rivals Man City.

This is a deal that Daniel Levy should certainly pursue, not matter how slim The Lilywhites' chances are of signing him.

The 16-year-old goalkeeper was expected to join Man City next summer, but there remains a glimmer of hope that Mauricio Pochettino's men could make a swoop for the shot-stopper.

This would be a fantastic acquisition for the north London club, as they look to the future in the goalkeeping department. At 31 years old, current keeper and captain Hugo Lloris certainly has a few more good seasons in him, but his future is hard to predict. Therefore, it is imperative that Tottenham plan for the French captain's eventual decline or exit from White Hart Lane by having a back-up waiting in the wings.

Second choice keeper Michel Vorm is 34, and is definitely not seen as one for the future. Likewise, third choice keeper Paulo Gazzaniga, while impressing in brief appearances, is 26 and may not be seen as the long term keeper for a side that want to challenge for the Premier League.

Bazunu has only played a handful of games for Shamrock Rovers this season, but has already put in some very impressive performances for a man of his age, and it is no surprise that he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

There isn't a greater sign of planning for the future than buying a 16-year-old, but this is one that Tottenham may be very glad they did in ten years time.
