Tottenham offered cut-rate deal for Premier League rival’s target

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has a big few weeks ahead of him as he looks to build a side capable of going one step further and winning the Premier League after two seasons of going close, and the Spurs fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see who their boss will add.

With that in mind, the north Londoners – who will play their home games at Wembley Stadium this season as work continues on their new home at White Hart Lane – have been offered a cut rate deal for a top summer target.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record (via talkSport) the Lilywhites have been told they can land Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva for £26m as opposed to his near-£40m release clause.

However, last season’s runners-up will face stiff competition from the side who beat them to the title two years ago in Leicester City, who are also tracking the 28-year-old.

Silva, a Portuguese international who was part of the European Championship winning side last summer, is a graduate of Sporting’s academy and has racked up over 230 appearances for the Liga NOS side.

Spurs fans, we want to hear from you! Surely you can beat the Foxes to this deal, can’t you? Let us know below…
