The Metro have provided a claim that Spurs fans are looking slightly hopeful at today in the Football Transfer Tavern after noting that players at the North London club were prepared to beg Gareth Bale to stay for one more season.
As anyone who has not been living under a rock for the past three months knows, Bale has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and the Spanish press – especially Marca – are in full swing attempting to manipulate the situation and Spurs into selling.
Despite all of this the club and most notably Daniel Levy have held strong and now it seems that nothing less than a bid that would break the world record plus a player would do – Spurs will demand big money and top talent from Los Blancos to land Bale. Andre Villas Boas is known to have a good relationship with the Welshman and has already asked him to stay. Now it seems that Bales’ teammates have decided to follow suit and will implore him to stay for one more year and help fire the club into the top four of the Premier League and maybe even challenge for the title.
Quite if this will be enough to keep Bale at the club when the chance of playing in Europe and alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo is already on offer remains to be seen but there is clearly no hard in trying.
