Tottenham fans look tense in the Football Transfer Tavern after talkSPORT revealed that they will go head-to-head with Napoli to sign Sampdoria striker Manolo Gabbiadini in January.
Mauricio Pochettino is seeking for more attacking reinforcements in an attempt to bring some glory to White Hart Lane with Spurs having been unconvincing in front of goal in recent weeks.
They have now been linked with Gabbiadini who has been on-from for Sampdoria in the opening stages of the Serie A season. It is believed Spurs have already scouted the 23-year-old Italian international as they prepare a transfer bid.
Silvio Pagliari is Gabbiadini’s agent and he has confirmed there is interest from Italy as well as abroad and he feels the race for his client’s signature will hot up come January.
Pagliari said: “It’s normal that there’s interest in a player like Manolo, both in our league and abroad.
“I’ve received a few phonecalls, and I repeat, they were from both foreign and Italian clubs.
“I was asked for information about the lad, who I can guarantee is focused completely on Sampdoria at the moment.
“Although it’s always nice to be sought after, the market isn’t open for another month, and we’ll be hearing a lot of rumours until then.”
Although Lilywhites club chairman – Daniel Levy – who is known for his strict bargaining measures in the transfer window will know he has tough competition to fare in the form of Rafael Benitez’s Napoli.
