Tottenham Hotspur fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been left frustrated at the clubs failed attempts to sign a striker this January, but Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph reckons the club are preparing one final late bid for their top target.
Brazilian international forward Leandro Damiao has been Andre Villas-Boas top target for some time, but so far the club have been left frustrated in their pursuit.
His club Internacional have so far been unwilling to sell, but a breakthrough arrived yesterday with the news the club had bought in another striker in the form of Luan from Palmeiras.
It now remains to be seen whether Villas-Boas and chairman Daniel Levy can force through a deal for the striker before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.
Damiao is valued at around £15 million – a fee Tottenham have so far been unwilling to match. However, Andre Villas-Boas knows the importance of securing a forward before the window shuts, with Emmanuel Adebayor away on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, and Jermain Defoe currently struggling with a pelvic injury.
The club have so far only made one major signing this transfer window, bringing in midfielder Lewis Holtby from Schalke for a bargain £1.5m, while they have also brought in youngster Ezekiel Fryers in from Standard Liege.
Will Spurs snare Damiao in a last minute raid? Rate this rumour below.
