The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern had been feeling pretty confident about their chances against Chelsea next month…
An opportunity for Mauricio Pochettino to get one up on the side that looks likely to beat him to the Premier League trophy this season, a lot is riding upon Tottenham’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea.
Indeed, a decent performance could see Pochettino’s side through to the FA Cup final, and recent reports suggesting that star forward Harry Kane could be fit for the game has given those in the pub a real lift.
However, they have now been brought down to the reality of English football – with the Daily Mail reporting that defender Danny Rose is facing a real battle to be fit for the game. Still yet to return to full training, Rose has struggled to recover from a knee injury that has kept him out since January – and that spell could reportedly extend beyond the FA Cup clash.
This has come as a big blow to those in the Transfer Tavern, especially given that his replacement – Ben Davies – has, for the most part, struggled to really make an impact in the Tottenham first team.
