The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to sign a few players between now and the end of the summer…
The Lilywhites have been very quiet this summer, much to the surprise of our landlord, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned that their side will be left behind this summer.
Indeed, with sides like Man City, Man Utd and last season’s winners Chelsea all investing heavily, Tottenham are only going to slip further behind the leading back – unless something changes.
Indeed, It appears as though it could be something that is about to change, with the Mirror reporting that Tottenham are set to step up their interest in midfielder Max Meyer – who has been impressing in the Bundesliga over the last few years. Reportedly rekindling their interest from last summer, Meyer is entering the final year of his contract, and the Mirror notes that Tottenham could land a cut-price deal as a result.
Meyer is an attacking midfielder that has impressed in Germany since he was a teenager, and he has been a focal point of the Schalke midfield over the last few years.
With no new contract signed and just a year to go until his current deal expires, his side could look to sell this summer, and Tottenham appear to be firmly in the race.
Tottenham’s silence this summer is very surprising, though it appears that the London-based outfit are only going to spend money if it will directly improve their team.
Meyer is a player that would certainly make life easier for Mauricio Pochettino, with his fantastic passing and dribbling often helping to catalyse attacks in the Bundesliga.
Given Tottenham’s attacking depth, he may not start the season as a first team regular, but given time he is sure to make an impact. That is, if Pochettino manages to get his man.
