There are interested faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed that Andre Villas-Boas has his eyes set on FC Porto’s Christian Atsu according to the Daily Mirror.
The Ghanaian international winger is back on the radar of the coach who gave him his debut during his time managing the Portuguese club and thinks that the 20-year-old could make a difference for his side next season. AVB has seen some top transfer targets knock him back in the not so recent past and is determined to land the player who only has 12 months left on his current contract and is steadfastly refusing to pen a new deal at the Estadio Dragao.
Porto could be willing to let the player go for less than his £8 million buy out clause in order to prevent him from running down his contract and leaving for a tiny fee after the 2014 World Cup. Spurs of course are sweating over the fitness of Gareth Bale who is currently behind in his rehab schedule and is a major doubt for the game against Manchester City. After crashing out of the Europa League, AVB is determined to finish in the top four and needs Bale to make that happen.
Will Spurs trigger Atsu’s release clause? Rate this rumour below.
