Tottenham Hotspur fans will be expecting the club to build on their Premier League title ambitions once again in the summer and will be wanting to see Daniel Levy open his cheque book and bring in some quality additions to bolster their squad.
Mauricio Pochettino could do with upgrading his midfield once the transfer window opens and it appears the club have been tracking a player recently that could help to immediately strengthen the team in the middle.
What’s the News?
Foot Mercato are claiming Tottenham have been scouting Lille’s Boubakary Soumare recently and have been impressed by the performances that the 20-year-old has produced, especially during his appearance for the France Under-20’s on Wednesday night.
Compared to Paul Pogba, the midfielder is thought to have plenty of admiration from a number of clubs around Europe, with Manchester City having once been linked with a move for him in January last year.
Soumare looks to be a player in high demand this summer and Tottenham should look to do all they can to beat the competition for his signature as he looks an ideal player to bring to north London.
With a space needing to be filled by the departure of Mousa Dembele, the 20-year-old could be an ideal replacement and one that could thrive under the guidance of Pochettino at Spurs, who obviously has a knack for bringing through young players and developing them into brilliant talents.
The Lille midfielder, who is yet to start a Ligue One game for the club this season, is an athletic player who has an excellent ability to pass the ball, whilst his technique is also considered to be superb.
The youngster appears very calm when he is in possession, whilst he can make a number of powerful runs, although he is more than capable of keeping hold of the ball if he is required to do so.
Soumare can be considered a box-to-box midfielder, which could certainly bring something new to Tottenham with the likes of Harry Winks and Eric Dier being slightly more defensive minded.
As mentioned, with a number of clubs understood to be interested in him, Tottenham could have a real battle on their hands to land him in the summer if they attempt to do so.
Tottenham fans, should the club look to sign Soumare in the summer? Do you think he can improve the midfield? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
