Everyone in the Football Transfer Tavern knows that Tottenham are eyeing at least one new centre forward this summer and consequently newspapers repeatedly link the White Hart Lane club with moves for the finest available strikers around Europe.
Today is the turn of Benfica striker Rodrigo who Mirror Football report is now on the radar for Andre Villas-Boas in view to a possible summer transfer.
The 22-year-old Brazil-born Spanish striker failed to break through the ranks at Real Madrid, spending some time on loan at Bolton Wanderers in England, before leaving for the Portuguese side in 2010.
With 13 goals in his 33 appearances the striker has emerged as a key player for the Estadio da Luz side and the club have valued him at around £10 million.
Punters who watched Benfica’s Europa League tie against Newcastle United remember the striker hitting the net and wonder if he’ll be doing the same at White Hart Lane next season as Villas-Boas steps up his striker search.
Spurs are also reportedly looking at Barcelona’s David Villa and Brazil internatioanl Leandro Damiao but Rodrigo would mark a younger promising star rather an established product.
