Tottenham fans are looking up interested here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that the club could well be on the verge of signing Barcelona’s David Villa.
It has been clear for sometime now that the Lilywhites were in need of reinforcements up top this summer and with the imminent departure of Emmanuel Adebayor, it seems the club are more desperate than ever to land a forward who is capable of taking some of the pressure off Gareth Bale.
With North London rivals Arsenal closing in on Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, AVB has moved quickly to try and recruit another La Liga star.
David Villa has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and Spurs, yet it seems the white half of North London could well be for him.
After falling out of favour at the Camp Nou, Villa has been desperate for a move away and given the fact a World Cup year is nearly upon us, playing time is more vital than ever. At Barcelona, the Spanish international will not get that – but at Spurs playing week in, week out, this is much more of a possibility.
Villa is not the only Spanish international AVB is considering – the manager is also keen on making a move for Valencia forward Roberto Soldado this transfer window.
