Tottenham Hotspur are thought to have joined the race for one of Africa’s rising stars this season.

According to a report by Calciomercato, Spurs are just one of the latest clubs to have taken an interest in Ismaila Sarr.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form for Rennes this season in Ligue One and has already managed to net three goals for the French outfit.

The Senegalese winger, who went to this summer’s World Cup tournament, is thought off highly and has been tipped to be a star in the future, which has led to the likes of Tottenham’s fierce rivals Arsenal being interested as well.

Spurs are thought to be keen on making additions to their squad this winter, after failing to make any in the summer, and Mauricio Pochettino could look to add creativity and attacking threat to his side.

The Verdict:

Tottenham will have a battle on their hands if they do look to make a move for Sarr in the winter, or even next summer.

The 20-year-old, who is valued at £12.6million by Transfermarkt, still has a number of years left on his contract at Rennes and they will want to keep hold of their rising talent.

Should the French outfit be willing to sell, Spurs will likely need to splash out a considerable amount more to land him, whilst also beating off the competition surrounding the Senegal international.
