He’s been the talk of the Football Transfer Tavern since the conclusion of the Premier League and once again the future of Tottenham star Gareth Bale is the centre of discussion in the bar after Metro suggested that Real Madrid are ready to pay a mammoth £85 million to land the Welsh international this summer.
Tottenham and Daniel Levy are still insisting they will not let the 23-year-old leave for any price this summer but everyone knows it will be hard for any team turn down that sort of money for one player.
Bale is currently enjoying some free time in the USA and Spurs are planning to offer him a £180,000-a-week contract on his return to make sure he remains with the White Hart Lane club for the new season.
Madrid, however, are not going to give up their chase easily and president Florentino Perez yesterday confirmed that Bale was the man he wanted to be the club’s marquee signing this summer after he was reappointed in his position.
According to sources in Spain, Perez is now willing to offer Spurs £85 million to secure Bale, smashing the current record transfer and Spurs fans in the tavern are starting to get seriously worried.
Can Spurs really turn down £85 million? Should Spurs cash in on the brilliant Bale? Rate this rumour below.
