Tottenham should hijack Man United’s bid for 6-assist Danny Rose alternative

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting Danny Rose to leave the club this summer as part of a squad overhaul, but who exactly will replace him remains a mystery.

The majority of the resident Lilywhites faithful lining up our bar were ready to wave goodbye to Rose when he publicly criticised the club’s perceived lack of ambition and tight wage structure before the beginning of the 2017/18 season, but he remains a Tottenham player despite his outcry. Rose found himself playing second-fiddle to Ben Davies last season as a consequence of both his comments away from the field and due to injury problems which restricted him to just 17 appearances in all-competitions.

Now that the season is over and the transfer window is open for business once again, it seems certain that Rose will embark on a new challenge in the near future, so Pochettino will need to secure the services of a worthy replacement. One player who Tottenham should have firmly on their radar is Juventus full-back Alex Sandro, although they will face competition from Manchester United for his services according to the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian full-back was in fine form for the Old Lady last season by providing quality at both ends of the field on the way to a third straight Serie A title. Sandro possesses a typically Brazilian technical ability, a defensively intelligent brain and the right level of fitness to ensure he is rarely caught out of position following a marauding run forward, so he would have no problem adapting to the intensity of the Premier League next season.

Despite Ashley Young’s success at left-back last season, it’s easy to understand why Mourinho is lining up the signing of a player to replace him, especially considering Luke Shaw’s career at Old Trafford looks destined to end this summer. As far as full-backs go, there are few, if any in Europe who are as devastatingly effective as Sandro, especially in the final-third where he provided 6 assists and notched 4 goals in all-competitions last season.

With that in mind, Tottenham must rival United’s bid for Sandro to replace Rose and potentially usurp Ben Davies in the pecking order next season, as he possesses all the credentials to become a resounding success in North-London.
