Punters are looking up with some shock here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the latest claim from the Daily Mail.
The publication seem to be under the impression that Dimitar Berbatov will not be returning to a former club, instead leaving these shores altogether.
The Bulgarian forward had been linked with a £1 million move across London to former club Tottenham Hotspur, who of course allowed Jermain Defoe to leave for the MLS and are outsiders to make the top four with Sports Betting Dime, and now it looks like Tim Sherwood and his men will have to look elsewhere and fast for a replacement forward.
Berba seems to be on his way to the tax haven that is Monaco to replace the injured Radamel Falcao after Laurent Blanc decided that he needed extra firepower to compete with fellow mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain for the Ligue 1 title.
That of course means that Fulham will have to deal with the loss of Berba – but as one of our regulars at the Cottage notes – given how disinterested he looks at times, that is perhaps not the worst thing in the world!
Quite who Spurs will move for now remains to be seen, but over a game of darts one punter quips there is always the ever reliable Roberto Soldado penalty to utilise!
Which striker will Tottenham turn their attentions to now? Let us know your thoughts below.
