Shock is not the word here in the Transfer Tavern as it is claimed in Metro that Tottenham star Gareth Bale has agreed a six-year deal including personal terms with Real Madrid.
Rumours have been rife in the Spanish press all week that the Welshman was set to ask Spurs for a move and that Florentino Perez had finally put together the package that would be required to tempt Spurs and Andre Villas-Boas to part with their best player.
Bale has made it clear that he is happy and Spurs, and should he stay for one more season it would not be the end of the world – especially given his good relationship with manager AVB.
However, Real Madrid’s pursuit has reportedly proved too much for the player to resist.
Los Blancos are determined to land their top target and given Barcelona have managed to unveil Neymar in addition to winning the title last term, that means Carlo Ancelotti needs a star man and he needs him fast.
Spurs are of course preparing for life without Bale and could well see the money come in handy given Valencia have rejected their current bid for Valencia forward Roberto Soldado. Now AVB has to act fast and despite his denials, it seems Bale may well be joining Real Madrid this summer – and as part of a whopping £86 million package.
Will this move go through as the biggest in football history? Is this the Spanish press simply tapping Bale up once more? Let us know your thoughts below.
