The daily update on Gareth Bale has been provided to us here in the Football Transfer Tavern by the Daily Mail who have noted that the star man has edged even closer to a move to Real Madrid.
Daniel Levy has been locked in talks with Florentino Perez and the Los Blancos board for days now and it seems that an £87 million fee has been agreed in principle.
What has now become the sticking point is Real Madrid’s delusion they can offer £22 million per season until the debt is paid off. Quite understandably, Spurs are not too impressed with this offer and have rejected it out of hand.
The Spanish side are still determined to land the Welshman who they see as their star signing of the summer and have even offered a player to boot.
Winger Angel Di Maria was the first sacrifice yet the player himself is not keen on a move and would prefer to stay in Madrid and at least try to fight for his place.
One player who would consider a move however and who has not featured in pre-season for the club in any significant form is left back Fabio Coentrao and Andre Villas-Boas would welcome his Portuguese compatriot with open arms.
Another player Spurs have their eye on is young forward Alvaro Morata, yet again Real Madrid and the player himself are unwilling to consider a move.
How much will Perez and Madrid end up paying for Bale? Let us know your thoughts below.
