Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a woeful week, with their hopes of winning the Premier League dashed on Monday evening and the aftermath of the ‘battle of Stamford Bridge’ occupying the back pages.
Having been handed an astonishing nine yellow cards over the course of the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, Spurs are at risk of even more concerning disciplinary action as The Sun suggests Moussa Dembele could be banned for as many as ten matches.
The Belgian midfielder could be hit with retrospective action from the Football Association after being captured gouging the eyes of Chelsea striker Diego Costa as tempers boiled over in the feisty London derby.
Referee Mark Clattenburg missed the incident but the FA class Dembele’s actions as an ‘extraordinary event’ and deem the behaviour of the midfielder to be in the same bracket as Luis Suarez’ bite on Branislav Ivanovic in 2013.
The Liverpool striker was handed a 10-game ban following that incident and our landlord believes Dembele’s dangerous actions are arguably worse, so he’s expected heavy punishment from the FA.
How Long should Dembele be banned for? Let us know in the comments below!
