The Daily Mail have a rather interesting claim for Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
It is claimed that one of their flops could well be forced to stay at White Hart Lane – at least for the time being!
Lewis Holtby has struggled since the departure of former manager Andre Villas-Boas and has only played 63 minutes under Tim Sherwood, meaning that it is fairly clear that the new Spurs boss sees other players as the ones to truly rely on.
As our punters note, it is not just Holtby who is struggling to make an impact at the club, with several of the high profile, and costly summer purchases struggling to settle and the club and make an impact on the Premier League.
Even Roberto Soldado has struggled and it seems that Andre Villas-Boas may have spent rather a lot of money on players who may not produce.
There is interest in Holtby from his former side Schalke but the club have ruled out any kind of move, at least for now, with the player simply costing too much money in terms of both a transfer fee and wages.
The Bundesliga club were asked about a potential move, and they noted: “We can’t really imagine such a transfer financially.
“Talks are not at an advanced stage.”
Tottenham fans. Have you been disappointed by Holtby or does he need more game time? Let us know your thoughts below.
