Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up at the latest claim coming from the Daily Mail with enthusiasm.
The publication notes that Christian Eriksen has pledged his future to the club – even if they miss out on the top four and Champions League football for next season.
Eriksen has been a huge success since his summer switch from Ajax and has even been hailed as the next Luka Modric!
After last night’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Sunderland, the Danish international claimed: “Our aim now is to win all our matches so that we end the season with some confidence ahead of next year and if we do that we can see where it takes us in the table.
“For me the feeling I have at the club isn’t dependent on being in the Champions League, I’m happy here and am looking forward to the future.”
While Eriksen is looking like he will be staying at White Hart Lane come next season, one person that does not look like he will be is current Lilywhites manager Tim Sherwood, who once again treated us to shall we say a rather eccentric display on the touchlines during yesterday evening’s Monday night football.
There may also be a few more departures, with the likes of Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue failing to impress since their arrivals last summer.
Will Eriksen stay true to his word and earn his Spurs even if clubs come calling for him this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
