Tottenham star reveals personal desire

Gareth BaleTottenham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are not exactly looking thrilled with the latest news from the Daily Mail who claim that Gareth Bale is eyeing a move to a club that can provide Champions League football.

This has been a summer of speculation for the former Southampton man and each day there seems to be another publication either linking the Welshman with a move away or claiming that he will be staying at the North London club.

Now Bale himself has explained just how much he craves Champions League football in an interview with Esquire magazine.

In comments that will not exactly thrill manager Andre Villas-Boas, he noted that: “When you play in the Premier League, say you’re playing against a lower-end team, they set up to defend all the time, they set up to block you off.

But when you play in the Champions League, all the other teams are used to winning every week, so it’s more of an open game, it’s more attacking, end-to-end.

“No one’s used to defending, everyone’s used to attacking and trying to win games, so it’s just all against all.”

New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is of course a huge fan of the player and we all know exactly how much Florentino Perez wants the Lilywhites’ star man at his club.

Will it be Champions League or Europa League football for Gareth Bale this season? Let us know your thoughts below.
