Tottenham star to complete transfer within next 48 hours?

Gareth Bale It’s set to become the biggest transfer of the summer in the Football Transfer Tavern and perhaps one of the transfers of the decade as Tottenham’s Gareth Bale looks to be on the verge of completing his massive £94 million move to Real Madrid.

Mail Online reports that the record breaking transfer could be confirmed within 48 hours as finally the La Liga club came to some sort of agreement with hard nosed negotiator Daniel Levy to see the supremely talented 24-year-old move to Spain.

The Spurs chairman is determined to sign left back Fabio Coentrao but not as part of the Bale transfer, while Madrid are adamant that he should be included to lower the price further.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against Dinamo Tbilisi, Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas insisted the transfer, that would eclipse Madrid’s record £80 million move for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, is not completed yet.

When asked whether the deal to take Bale to Madrid was already complete, Villas-Boas replied: “I can’t tell you anything about that. That is not true.”

But when pressed, the Portuguese manager admitted that it was unlikely that Bale would play again for the club.

“Ideally we want to keep everyone to make us stronger — that is the objective of the club. But we are dragging ourselves into the last weeks of transfer activity and it can become very, very frantic. We will continue to do some activity in the market, both ways.”

Everyone in the tavern knows it is just a matter of time before his exit is confirmed with Spurs seemingly spending the money already.

Anzhi Makhachkala winger Willian has passed a medical before joining the club in a £30 million deal, while they are at the advanced stage of talks with Roma for Erik Lamela at around £30 million as the replacements for Bale take shape.

Has Levy done a good job squeezing as much as £94m out of Real for Bale? Let us know your thoughts below.
