Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up rather concerned at the latest claim from Metro.
The publication seem to be under the impression that one of their summer signings could well be looking towards the exit door at the club.
Since the summer, when as we all know, Spurs went on a huge recruitment drive, there have been a few changes at White Hart Lane, including the manager.
Belgian international Nacer Chadli has struggled to get into the first team and really show what he can do under Tim Sherwood and now talk of the exit door has reared its head.
Chadli’s agent recently spoke out about his client’s situation, noting: “His situation is not easy at the moment. The World Cup is arriving, so it’s a problem.
“For him to play at the World Cup it’s important, so why not a loan? We haven’t spoken to Tottenham yet, but I know there are clubs interested in him.
“There are a lot of players in the same situation who are not in the team and they want to play in the World Cup, so there is a market for a lot of clubs. It’s important for him not to take any risks by going to a country he doesn’t know well.”
As one of our punters notes over his dinner and free tavern drink, the Belgium squad for the World Cup is one of, if not the best ever and it seems that to get into it, first team football is a must.
The question whether this can happen at Spurs is a debatable one and not something we think will occur, meaning we in the tavern support the idea of a loan move.
Will Chadli depart North London on loan this January? Let us know your thoughts below.
