The Metro have a rather interesting story for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that Gareth Bale and Andre Villas-Boas are no longer talking.
The pair have previously had a brilliant working relationship and that was one of the main factors in Gareth Bale considering spending another season in North London. Now, however, it seems that the forward has taken offence at Spurs’ refusal to allow him to leave the club and join Carlo Ancelotti in Madrid and has taken a vow of silence. As one of our punters quips, this looks like being a longer vow that Luis Suarez, who lasted approximately one day with his.
AVB noted ahead of the new season that Bale is still a Spurs player and claimed
‘The player is our player – our idea is to count on Gareth,’
‘We are aware Real Madrid are interested in the player. It doesn’t mean that we are willing to negotiate.
‘His mental state? Nobody knows because he is refusing to speak.
‘The only thing that we are able to see is the player arriving in and out of the training ground.’
The Welshman seems to have made it increasingly clear that he wants a move to the Spanish capital and Florentino Perez has been doing everything in his power to land the forward, yet Daniel Levy and Spurs are holding firm, although how much use a player who is refusing to speak to them will be remains to be seen.
