Tottenham fans aren’t looking too flustered in the Football Transfer Tavern after talkSPORT linked their Romanian international defender Vlad Chiriches with a move to Roma.
It is believed the Italian giants are poised to make a bid in January but Mauricio Pochettino will hope he can cling on to his centre back as he looks to bolster his squad in the New Year.
Roma have monitored the 25-year-old on numerous occasions already this season to help them evaluate a fee in January.
And it is expected that Roma are chasing him to replace Leandro Castan who is set to be out for a long period following surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, having suffered from acute dizziness.
After featuring in Spurs’ first team more regularly this season, it is thought that the Giallorossi will are planning a bid in the region of £8 million.
But fans of the North London club will hope that if Chiriches is sold, Daniel Levy will again display his notorious bitterness in the transfer window and drive that price up.
That said, Roma boss Rudi Garcia hopes to take Chiriches on loan for the rest of the season and in doing so he will agree a clause in the deal to allow them to sign the defender for a set price at the end of the campaign.
