Negative is not the word for Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the latest claim from the Daily Star.
One of their best players, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, has delivered a damming assessment of the club and indeed their mentality, giving further substance to the claims he could well be off in the summer.
As one of our punters notes, we have already discussed the claims that the Lilywhites are targeting West Bromwich Albion’s Ben Foster as a potential replacement should Lloris leave, and after these comments, we would not put it past him.
He claimed: “This season we had sometimes the feeling that we give up. We can’t allow this kind of behaviour. We have to show more character.
“I want to be honest. I’m a competitor and I try always to do my best for the team. I want to see my team-mates do the same.
“It’s strange because we have a feeling that we can play at a very high level, but we can also play at a very bad level during the same game. It has put us in trouble a lot of times this season.
“All the players in the squad have the ambition to play in the Champions League – it’s the ambition of the club as well.”
Of course, our regulars note that Lloris is not the only one linked with an exit. Lilywhites manager Tim Sherwood has certainly managed to alienate a fair few of the squad, and star man Christian Eriksen of course has his ‘secret plan.’
Will a change in manager help keep Lloris at the club or will the lure of Champions League football elsewhere prove to be too strong? Let us know your thoughts below.
