Tottenham step up efforts in transfer pursuit

soldado.jpgHere in the Football Transfer Tavern voices have been raised after Joe Bernstein from Mail Online arrived to explain to punters that Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their chase for long-term transfer target and Valencia forward Roberto Soldado.

It is well known that Spurs are searching for striking reinforcements during the summer with just Emmanuel Abebayor and Jermain Defoe on their books and Bernstein reports that a delegation from White Hart Lane will be watching the 27-year-old during Valencia’s game against Real Sociedad.

The Spanish forward has been in fine form this season with 22 goals to help keep Valencia in the chase for a Champions League place. Spurs were quoted around £30 million for the striker last season but given the La Liga side’s well documented financial problems he could be available at half that price with Daniel Levy eager to make a bid.

Andre Villas-Boas saw his side draw 2-2 away at relegation strugglers Wigan Athletic yesterday to damage their chances of securing a Champions League berth and the chances of bringing the former Real Madrid forward to White Hart Lane could be greatly enhanced if they can secure European football next season as the club looks to challenge at the top of the league.

Soldado has been linked with a Premier League move for years but will Tottenham land him this summer? Rate this rumour below.
