Tottenham Striker Is Top Italian Transfer Target

According to reports in the Italian media Juventus have made Jermaine Defoe their top transfer target for the January transfer window.

Juve added Jorge Martinez and Fabio Quagliarella to their attack this summer, but Luigi Del Neri is thought to be still looking to sign a new striker, following the departure of David Trezeguet who has joined Spanish side Hércules.

They have been linked with Edin Dzeko of Wolfsburg and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema as  potential replacements, but following Defoe’s recent performances he is now  top of their list.

The Tottenham striker has been in fine form for both Spurs and England. Scoring twice in the second leg of Spurs’ Champions League play-off game against Young Boyscoring  and an bagging an impressive hat-trick against Bulgaria at Wembley last week has caught the eye of the Italian giants.

It would be a huge surprise if Harry Redknapp agreed to his to let Defoe leave and given that he is signed up to Spurs until 2014 there would be high asking price in order for any offer to be considered
