Tottenham suffer big blow ahead of Man City clash

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are not very happy about this…

The Lilywhites have been impressing this season, and whilst the fans in the pub are holding back their expectations – a title challenge is almost certainly on the cards for the second-half of the season.

Their next game will tell Mauricio Pochettino just how close his side are to the title, with a tough test against Man City coming up on Sunday afternoon. Whilst the Citizens have not been in the best run of form, the talent that Pep Guardiola has available to him will ensure that Tottenham have a tough game on their hands.

Unfortunately for the fans in the Tavern though, Tottenham are going to have to do it without one of their most important players.

As confirmed by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are now expecting defender Jan Vertonghen to miss up to 2 months worth of action – after the defender suffered an ankle ligament injury against West Brom.

The injury will, of course, mean that he will miss the Man City clash – as well as a number of other games thereafter in the lead up to his return to action.

This has come as a huge blow to the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom have touted Vertonghen as the key component of their back line. He has already made 20 Premier League appearances so far this season, and Mauricio Pochettino will certainly have a tough test on their hands to ensure that he correctly replaces the defender.
