Son Heung-min has become a fan favourite amongst the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern over the last year, given his performances last season…
There has been a real silence in the pub today, then, as the Tottenham fans in-house reflect after hearing some rather disappointing news concerning the attacker. According to the Evening Standard, Son has suffered a suspected broken arm – leaving the Tottenham brass concerned that he could miss some important action.
Though it remains to be seen just how long he will be out for, Tottenham’s pre-season preparations are set to get underway in July, leaving Son’s availability on a knife-edge.
A broken arm can, of course, lead to several months out – particularly if there are complications – and so Tottenham will be wanting to get a quick look at him before jumping to any conclusions. That being said, there will be the hope that he will be able to return at some point during pre-season. Whilst it is a bad time for the injury to occur, you could argue that the lack of competitive fixtures for the next couple of months reduces the significance somewhat.
Any amount of missed time will be a blow for the Lilywhites, with Son proving himself as one of their most important players last term. He bagged 14 goals last season, and was so often the hero for Tottenham as they rivalled Chelsea for the Premier League title.
The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will go one better next year, so they are desperately waiting to hear that Son’s injury is not as bad as feared. Sports journalist Ben Dinnery is reporting that the attacker could be out for as little as a month, which is certainly a bit of a boost.
