Tottenham Hotspur managed to secure all three points against Burnley yesterday in what was a rather frustrating encounter at Wembley Stadium.
Spurs can’t afford to slip-up with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea breathing down their neck in the race for a top-four spot in the Premier League.
Sadly, it appears as if the Lilywhites have suffered a big setback on the transfer front, as according to The Sunday Mirror (16/12; page 65) (via HITC), Everton have joined the race to sign Riqui Puig from Barcelona.
Everton will rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Riqui Puig.
It’s thought that the Toffees’ top brass are hoping their close connections with the Barcelona power brokers will give them the edge on Tottenham in any dealings.
Puig is a deep-lying central midfield player, who has appeared just once for Barcelona’s senior team, but he definitely has a bright future ahead of him at the age of 19.
Spurs could do with bringing in a defensive midfielder as the likes of Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama have been linked with a move away from the English capital.
But, with the Toffees joining the race and looking to use their close links to possibly gain them the upper-hand, it comes as a big blow for Spurs as they may struggle to compete.
