The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that a few players will move to White Hart Lane this summer…
However, it seems as though one player that is looking increasingly unlikely to join is Crystal Palace midfielder Wilfried Zaha, who the Telegraph are reporting has put off Tottenham following his decision to represent Ivory Coast at international level. It is said that his decision, which will mean he will go to the African Cup of Nations every two years, could force Pochettino to look elsewhere – with a move for Everton ace Ross Barkley reportedly in the pipeline this summer.
Indeed, it is certainly a very reasonable concern for Pochettino and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to have, with Zaha’s bi-yearly departure likely going to interrupt plans going forward. Of course, Barkley would be available all season long, possibly making him a more attractive option.
That being said, the Telegraph are not reporting that Pochettino can only bring one of the players in, with Zaha still a target for this summer, but it seems as though the chances of him being signed are beginning to reduce.
To be fair, the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too unhappy about this. Whilst Zaha has done well this year, the fans in the pub have been hoping for a few more high profile signings, with the Lilywhites likely to demand a title challenge from their team next season.
It is all change at White Hart Lane, and that change is not just coming with regards to a new stadium, and it seems as though Zaha may not come along for the ride.
