Not many inside the Football Transfer Tavern are overly confident of QPR pulling off the great escape, and sources at Sky Sports have revealed Harry Redknapp is unsure whether he can hold on to striker and Tottenham transfer target Loic Remy if his side do drop down to the Championship.
Remy has impressed since arriving from Marseille in January, but his goals have not been enough to take Rangers out of the bottom three.
Redknapp has conceded a player of Remy’s quality is unlikely to stay at Loftus Road to play Championship football.
“I would have thought it would be hard to hang on to Remy. He was someone we were chasing when I was at Spurs,” said the QPR boss.
“Every goal he has scored here has been a fantastic goal. He has five goals in seven games.
“Over the season he would get you 20 goals in the Premier League. And a 20-goal-a-year man is going to be hard to hang on to.
“We have to make sure we stay up if we want to keep him. That’s the key, although I haven’t discussed it with him or the owners.”
Remy cost the club in excess of £11 million in January, and has scored five league goals in 9 games.
