The Daily Mirror have Spurs fans on the edge of their seats here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they have noted that the club could well be after Edin Dzeko.
The forward has found himself on the hitlist of manager Andre Villas Boas who is considering making a swoop for the City player after it became clear that the North London club had fallen short of the valuation for Roberto Soldado. The club are still ‘confident’ of landing the Spanish International but are mindful that a backup option is needed
Given Daniel Levy seems to be failing in his efforts to convince forward Gareth Bale to stay at the club, AVB could well have big money to spend soon and is willing to put some of it into convincing Manuel Pellegrini to part with his forward.
Dzeko was never the first choice under former boss Roberto Mancini and despite being the club’s top scorer last term looked to be on his way out this summer. He may have been handed a second chance by City, but Dzeko likes to play week in week out and that does not seem like it will be the case at the Etihad – unlike at the Lane where they are crying out for a top class centre forward.
