It’s happy hour in the Football Transfer Tavern and one of the many journalists taking advantage of the two for one offer is The Mirror‘s John Cross.
Cross brings interesting news for Tottenham supporters in the bar as he confirms their first likely capture in this transfer window.
He suggests that Lille striker Salomon Kalou could make a surprise return to the Premier League with Spurs.
The former Chelsea man left Stamford Bridge in July 2012 after six years with the Blues, but he could make his way make to England as Spurs boss Tim Sherwood looks to make his first signing as manager.
The 28-year-old will reportedly open talks with the Lilywhites over a possible £3 million switch in the new few days.
Although Lille want to keep the Ivory Coast international, his contractual situation gives hope to punters in the bar that Spurs can land their man.
Sherwood will lose Jermain Defoe at the start of March, with the England international leaving to join MLS outfit Toronto FC in a massive £90,000-a-week deal and this has left the club looking short in attack.
Kalou would offer Premier League experience and could play either on the wing or down the middle for Sherwood’s side.
Does Kalou provide the sort of striker that Spurs require? Let us know your thoughts below.
