Today’s copy of the Haringey Independent has been left on the bar in the Football Transfer Tavern with the local paper tuned in to the latest Spurs news.
The publication splashes with rumours that Andre Villas-Boas is lining up a move for Southampton left back Luke Shaw after making him their prime January transfer target.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one the most promising talents in the Premier League and that has seen him linked with a whole host of top flight sides.
However the latest suggestions are that Spurs could continue their recent spending spree in January and have now joined the race for the youngster in the January transfer window.
Danny Rose has started the season playing as first choice left back for the Lilywhites but it is a position that Spurs look short in and the recruitment of Shaw would go some way to solving the issues.
Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao was pursused over the summer as part of the deal that took world record breaking Gareth Bale to the Bernabeu but the English starlet has now moved to the head of the queue.
Southampton are eager to keep hold of their latest talent, but may be willing to sell for the £15 million that Spurs are proposing to splash on the England Under-21 international.
The paper suggests that Shaw could return to St. Marys’ for the rest of the season to help sweeten the deal.
Should Spurs be targeting a new left back and do they stand a realistic chance of landing the starlet? Let us know your thoughts below.
