Their manager Mauricio Pochettino was officially unveiled as the manager at fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur yesterday afternoon and now he’s already looking at who he can bring with him.
The Guardian today claims that the Argentine’s first choice is Saints captain Adam Lallana and he’s planning a bid for the England midfielder.
Both Lallana and Luke Shaw have been linked with moves away this season and to lose both as well as your manager would be a major blow for Southampton who are 12/1 for relegation next term by the way.
Liverpool had looked to be in pole position for Lallana after being told that a £5 million raise on their £20 million bid would be enough to lure him to Anfield.
But now it seems Pochettino could be set to hijack that move with Lallana a srong believer in the Argentine gaffers’ abilities.
It had been thought hat Lallana wanted Champions League football but he could now be set to settle for the Europa League just to work with his former boss again.
But a move for Shaw looks more unlikely with his move to Manchester United all but sealed already as both players prepare for the World Cup with England.
