Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting another busy summer transfer window as The Mirror have already linked them with FC Koln defender Kevin Wimmer.
The Austrian Under-21 international star was rumoured to joining Spurs in January but Mauricio Pochettino was unable to follow up with a bid as he was unable to sell out-of-favour centre halves Younes Kaboul or Vlad Chiriches.
But Pochettino is preparing to drastically reshape Tottenham’s defence at the end of the season with both the aforementioned French and Romanian defenders likely to depart White Hart Lane by the time the summer comes round.
Wimmer has caught the attention of the Argentine manager following a string of impressive performances in the Bundesliga.
If they are able to land the 22-year-old, he could potentially grow into the long-term partner for Jan Vertonghen but Federico Fazio and Eric Dier would have something to say about that, having impressed in spells this term.
Spurs also have Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte on their wishlist but it is Daniel Levy’s job to knock down the huge £30 million price tag the Basque side have placed on the Frenchman’s shoulders.
