There is a sense of excitement in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning as Tottenham and Southampton fans prepare for the first Super Sunday match.
Before the big kick off, discussion turns to the latest player linked to White Hart Lane as talkSPORT suggest that Spurs are planning a January move for Roma defender Dodo.
Despite spending over £100 million in the summer, Tottenham are in eighth place before today’s game, nine points off Liverpool at the top of the league and this poor first half of the season could see Spurs strengthening further in the New Year.
Although Spurs are without a manager after the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas earlier this month, it is thought that Franco Baldini and Daniel Levy are working hard behind the scenes to recruit a new left back when the transfer market opens in a few weeks.
With Danny Rose still injured and Kyle Naughton underperforming when offered a chance in the first team, Dodo, who was formally linked with Manchester United before he signed for Roma in 2010, is now believed to be a firm option for Baldini to solve his left back concerns.
It wouldn’t be the first bit of business Spurs have completed with the Serie A outfit after technical director Baldini joined the White Hart Lane club in the summer.
Young Roma attacker Erik Lamela become the club’s record signing after his arrival in North London and now it appears that his former 21-year-old team-mate could be the next to join Baldini at Spurs.
Do Spurs really stand a chance with Dodo? Let us know your thoughts below.
