Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been enjoying the wealth of Easter Sunday action on offer this afternoon.
Before watching their match against Everton, Manchester United supporters are intrigued with The Mirror reporting that Tottenham are considering making a £20 million summer swoop for Red Devils striker Danny Welbeck.
The England international, who is likely to be on the plane to Brazil, has performed relatively well for David Moyes’ seventh place side this season but with only two years left on his deal at Old Trafford, he could be sold at the right price.
It is thought that United want around £20 million for the 23-year-old as they look to fund a summer rebuilding exercise and Spurs may be willing to fork out that sort of money for the pacy forward.
While Welbeck has been a regular starter for Moyes’ team, it is understood that the player wants to be playing every week in a central position – something that will be on offer at White Hart Lane.
Spurs are set to replace current boss Tim Sherwood at the end of the campaign with Louis van Gaal expected to take charge which could delay any transfer until after the World Cup.
Do you think that Welbeck would be a good signing for Spurs? Would United be right to let him leave at this stage of his career? Let us know your thoughts below.
