Vincent Janssen may have made his first appearance for Tottenham Hotspur in a very long time against Brighton and Hove Albion as a second-half substitute in midweek, however, fans should not look to get used to seeing him.
The Dutchman may have returned to the fold recently following injuries to key personnel, however, that does not appear to have changed Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the forward heading into the upcoming transfer window.
What’s the News?
Pochettino still has plans to offload Janssen this summer, according to claims by Football Insider.
To be brutally honest, Janssen has been nothing but a disaster for Tottenham since his big-money move from AZ Alkmaar almost three years ago.
The 24-year-old has failed to live up to any hype that surrounded him when he initially arrived in north London and quickly found himself frozen out of Pochettino’s plans.
After a season-long loan at Fenerbache did not go to plan, his time looked over at the New White Hart Lane Stadium at the beginning of the campaign as he was not handed a squad number, although an injury put to bed any hopes Spurs may have had in trying to offload him.
Injuries to his team-mates, however, appears to have given him a chance of making an impact, although that now seems to be one that will be very short-lived.
Finding a buyer could be extremely challenging for Spurs this summer because of the abysmal time Janssen has been having, however, they are right not to change their plans and should not keep him at the club any longer than they have to.
Tottenham fans, do you think Pochettino is right to still want to offload Janssen this summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
