Things haven’t been going great for Jermaine Jenas of late. He’s struggling to get a place in the Tottenham Hotspur starting eleven for the first time in his career, and the England squad could not seem further away from the former Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United midfielder.
But every cloud has a silver lining, and for Jermaine Jenas, that silver lining is a certain Miss. Ellie Penfold. Penfold (not the sister of Danger Mouse’s companion, you fools!) and Jenas are set to tie the knot in 2011, and if the intimate interview and pictures featured in OK! Magazine are anything to go by, this is the real deal, love personified in the form of a glossy magazine.
It’s fair to say that if Jenas could transfer the energy he showed in pursuing Miss. Penfold onto the football pitch, he’d be up there with the Didier Zakora’s and Jamie O’Hara’s of this world. In OK! Magazine, Jenas describes the lengths at which he was willing to go to secure a date with the lovely Miss. Penfold, and the
Jermaine: It was about a year ago in a club. I was sitting down and I turned around to see this lady and I thought to myself, ‘Yes Please!’ I plucked up the courage to speak to her but she didn’t give me the time of day.
Ellie: He was trying to talk to me the whole night!
Jermaine: I eventually got her number though. I found out she lived two minutes away so I was well happy!
What a Romance! It must have taken hours for Jermaine to convince Miss. Penfold to go out with him and give him her number. Someone needs to get the rights to this script, because I hear Hollywood calling. In my head, Jermaine is portrayed by Hugh Grant, and Miss. Penfold by Stacey from Gavin and Stacey.
The thing about Jermaine Jenas is, the guy doesn’t do tacky or half-hearted. At the couple’s lavish engagement party, Jermaine spared no expense on the shin-dig by hiring rapper Nelly to perform at their party. But Miss. Penfold is a simple girl of simple tastes. For the wedding Ellie describes her humble tastes in OK! Magazine,
‘I’d like all my family and friends to be there in a big country house. Oh and I’d like Amy Winehouse to sing.’
Well, here’s to the future Mr. and Mrs. Jenas. If Jenas’s career at Tottenham continues to move along its current path, ‘JJ’ will be spending a lot more time with his bride-to-be at weekends, so that’ll come in handy with all the wedding planning…
