The Daily Mirror have Tottenham fans looking up with interest today here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Spurs will have to up their game – and their bid to land Spanish international Roberto Soldado this summer.
The publication claim that despite Andre Villas-Boas already making a £17 million bid for the forward, Valencia will not even consider negotiating with the North London side until the £25 million valuation is met by the Premier League club.
Now it seems that AVB could well turn his attentions elsewhere with Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke and also Barcelona’s David Villa both interesting him.
The most likely scenario would of course be a move for Barcelona forward Villa, who has been heavily linked with the club and a move away from the Camp Nou in search of first team football and would cost considerably less than both of the aforementioned strikers combined.
Either way, the Spurs manager is aware he needs to bring a new forward into the club before the start of the season and will pay a fair amount to do so.
