The Football League loan window will re-open on Tuesday and Harry Redknapp is expected to let three of his squad out should there be interest. Carlo Cudicini, Danny Rose and Kyle Naughton are all expected to go out on loan.
Carlo Cudicini seems a strange choice to me. They’ve brought in Stipe Pletikosa on loan from Spartak Moscow but should they let Cudicini go they may have to recall him if Pletikosa or Gomes get injured. I’ve no doubt, however, that there would be a number of Championship clubs interested in taking Cudicini. Having just turned thirty seven his best days are behind him but he’s still a good goalkeeper. A keeper of his ability and experience could make all the difference for a club aiming for promotion.
Danny Rose joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2007 and has since had loan spells with Watford and Peterborough. The young winger has struggled to progress at Tottenham after a serious knee injury in September 2008. Despite only playing one league game for Tottenham it certainly was a memorable one. He scored the opening goal last April in a 2-1 victory over rivals Arsenal. His thunderous volley won goal of the season, voted for by Sky Sports viewers. He’d certainly be a talented player to have in the Championship.
Kyle Naughton signed for Spurs from Sheffield United in July 2009. He’s played one league game so far, coming on in the 94th minute against West Ham United last season. He spent six months of last season on loan at Middlesbrough where he impressed at right back. He’d be another good deal for a Championship side, having been named in the Championship Team of the Year 2008/09 whilst still at Sheffield United.
All three would be good short term deals for Championship clubs. I’d expect Redknapp to be quite busy next week.
