How good was it for Tottenham Hotspur to finally play their first match in the new stadium on Wednesday?! With the victory in the bag, many will be expecting Spurs to kick on and hope it is the start of a new era for the club – one that is full of trophies.
However, for that to happen, Mauricio Pochettino is going to need to be backed in the transfer market this summer as he will need to make additions to strengthen his side. Bringing an attacking threat into the side could be something they look to do, as creativity can be lacking at times, whilst the pressure has rested firmly on the likes of Harry Kane to get them out of jail at times.
What’s the News?
David Neres could be the man to help them solve those concerns as Calciomercato are claiming Spurs are interested in the Ajax winger.
The Brazil international has been a standout performer for the Eredivisie outfit over the past couple of seasons, having hit eight goals and eight assists in the Dutch top-flight so far – adding to the 14 strikes and 11 assists he provided last year.
However, Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to be interested in trying to secure the 22-year-old’s services as well.
Neres could be an excellent addition at Tottenham in the summer as he has plenty of ability going forward and has proved that he can be a really dangerous threat going forward.
Obviously being blessed with an eye for goal and the vision to pick out his team-mates with his excellent passing ability, the Brazilian is also has a blistering amount of pace and can dribble the ball with the ball expertly, which will cause Premier League defenders plenty of nightmares.
Appearing to favour playing as a right-sided forward, Neres can also play anywhere across the field when it comes to an attacking position, which would hand Pochettino and Spurs plenty of options if they were to have him in their team.
The 22-year-old could look to learn to adapt to the English game and the way Tottenham play by linking up with Lucas Moura, who himself has made a significant impact in north London since joining them.
However, with a number of Europe’s top clubs thought to be interested in him and the fact that Ajax are hardly going to allow him to leave on the cheap, they could face some real difficulty trying to lure him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham fans, what do you make of Neres? Would you like to see the club try and sign him in the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
