Tottenham Hotspur may already have one world-class striker spearheading their attack in Harry Kane, however, it would seem that Mauricio Pochettino wants to add another to his ranks as they look to continue their quest in trying to add silverware to their trophy cabinet.
And, if reports are to be believed, it would be a really exciting addition in north London.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Sport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic.
The Benfica loanee has been in incredible form for the Bundesliga outfit this season, having provided seven assists and scored 22 goals in his 35 appearances across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt), leading to speculation about Barcelona also being interested.
Jovic is certainly one of Europe’s hottest strikers at the moment and it is no real surprise to see the 21-year-old being linked with potential moves in the summer.
There is no doubt that he would be able to bring plenty of goals to Tottenham and provide Kane with some excellent competition, however, there would have to be some doubts about whether a move to Spurs is viable.
Daniel Levy would have to get his cheque book out and splash out big for a player of the Serbia international’s talent, which is not something Tottenham fans will have been used to seeing over the years.
Valued at £49.5million by Transfermarkt, the Spurs chairman may have to spend around that figure to try and bring him to north London.
Also, Pochettino likes to play a system that has just one forward and if Kane is available, it will almost be guaranteed that the England international will start ahead of anyone else in the team. With the forward likely to be the Argentine’s favoured option, that would mean either Jovic would have to spend a lot of time on the bench, or a change in formation for the Premier League outfit, which is unlikely.
