Rumours are circling that Inter Milan boss Rafa Benitez is considering a move for Tottenham’s Giovanni Dos Santos to replace Mario Balotelli who left to join Manchester City.
Dos Santos’ career at Spurs so far has been a rather unhappy spell for the Mexican. Having only made a handful of appearances and having his commitment questioned by Harry Redknapp has seen him loaned out to Ipswich Town and then Galatasaray.
But it seems the word in Italy is that he may be Inter bound. Italian rag Tuttosport report that the European champions are monitoring the situation following the cash influx they received from the sale of Balotelli.
The only thing that makes me doubt the chances of the move happening is that Dos Santos played for Tottenham last night in their Champions League qualifying defeat to Young Boys. This would mean should he move he would be ineligible to play for Inter in Europe. Clubs aren’t keen on signing players in that situation. Then again this is Benitez we’re talking about. A bloke who re-signed Robbie Fowler for Liverpool, and bought a permanently injured Aquilani to replace Xabi Alonso. So who knows?
This time last year I think Tottenham fans would have been happy to see the back of Dos Santos. But having had a good World Cup for Mexico and seemingly being back in Redknapp’s plans perhaps he’d be better off staying where he is. What do the Spurs fans think, go or no go?
